Tucked away amongst the roots and vines of the Banyan tree, Erin and Alex got all sorts of cozy during their shoot. I love couples that aren’t afraid to show their affection for each other. If you book a session with me, be prepared for kisses, dancing and don’t forget to bring a change of clothes.
Erin reached out to me and knew exactly what she wanted. This woman had a vision for her session so her consult was a breeze. We chatted outfits, did some online shopping and nailed down a location.
As a mom of four Erin and Alex don’t get a ton of alone time together. It’s hard sometimes to connect with your partner in the midst of work, kids and maintaining a home. It is so easy to wash rinse and repeat your weeks away until you can’t remember the last time you had a date night. Couple’s sessions are a great way to connect with your loved one again (Plus since you’re all cute, it’s a great excuse to grab dessert after) Erin was excited to get dressed up, feel beautiful and go on a forest adventure with her husband.
In the middle of her shoot Erin shared with me that her husband and she have started dancing in their kitchen. “Oh it’s the best” She told me “You gotta try it” Now the extent of in home dancing I experience is breaking it down to the Trolls soundtrack or attempting ballet with my three year old. I’m not sure I know how to waltz but… I could give it a try after a glass or two of wine.
I really love Kawela Bay for the diversity of the location. There is the Banyan Tree, the different forest areas, side trails and of course the beach. It gives for a more choice when designing your album or artwork.
Sunset at Kawela Bay is an incredible sight. We made our way to the beach as the sun began to dip. The sky was a gorgeous pallet of oranges and pinks, it was so bright it bathed the whole beach in its colors, and spilling onto the trees.
The water had that beautiful metallic shine that comes with a saturated sunset. I knew we had to get into the water to really top off the session to really make this session pop. They were game and before I knew it I was hovering my camera barely above water to get the perfect shot. Our final photo actually ended up getting my camera wet but I couldn’t resist capturing this angle.
I do anything for the shot.I will climb trees, balance on rocks and if you’re wading in the ocean, guess who’s coming with you? I recently had to replace my phone while shooting mini sessions because I slipped while photographing in the tide pools on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. I’m not perfect but you won’t find another photographer who is as dedicated to getting the perfect photos for her clients.
I hope you enjoyed this session, Erin and Alex were such a fun couple I really enjoyed working with them!
See you next week,
