Guys,
Holy. Crap. Maybe that’s not the best way to start a blog post when I photograph families and chubby little babies. But hey, this blog isn’t for them; it’s for you. I started this post off with an explicative because well, I’m really proud of this shoot. I left downtown Kailua with my heart SOARING.. Working with another female entrepreneur? Uhm, yes please. One that owns a social media business and understands the need for professional photos to elevate her brand? Even better.
She saw my work on my website and liked my coffee house and relaxed vibe I imagined for her photo session. When she sent me her mood board for her shoot, I knew immediately that we were on the same wavelength and she was my kind of person. Nods towards fall in her outfit and sipping on hot tea, I met Madison outside Chad Lou’s in downtown Kailua.
We hugged, snagged a table and started chatting as I gathered photos of her working and enjoying the unique vibe of the cafe. I noticed her tattoos, piercings her tiny bump as she navigated Instagram, interacting with accounts on behalf of her client. I thought it was so cool how had it all figured out. Instagram, is still a mystery to me. As soon as I feel like I’ve got it, they go ahead and switch things up. Always keeping you just inches from mastering their secrets.
Okay so we spent a lot of time at food places but it’s only because they have the cutest decor.
Bee and Tea and Nalu have the perfect atmosphere for a fun walk around and explore day.
I asked her what she liked to do, her favorite places in town and what she did on her free time. Over the course of two hours we window shopped, sipped and ate our way through Bee & Tea, Nalu and eventually found ourselves at the greatest utopia of all- Target. Okay maybe I’m a bit dramatic but nobody ever got excited about going to Walmart. We browsed the dollar spot and then beelined to stationary. Who else has a collection of pretty notebooks they never end up using? No, only me?
We walked around until coming to the Holy Grail of Target; the candle section. Did you hear angels sing or am I just too into Target? ANYWAYS it was everything I had not to add to my stockpile of candles. My husband would be so proud. We ended the trip in the clothing section, I left Madison to her own devices and I just knew my camera held some of my most Pinterest worthy images of all time.
We had a great time, I mean… Have you ever been sad at Target? That’s like trying to frown on a jet ski- it just doesn’t happen.
I loved this session please feel free to share with your friends and family. If you’d like to schedule your own lifestyle portrait session just reply to this email and we can get started!
Have a great week and I will see you next Wednesday (probably) ,
